OUR MISSION

Carolina Custom Solutions was born out of a little inspiration and a lot of hard work.

Originally from Muncie, Indiana, our owner Randy Downing has always had a knack for custom woodworking. Getting his start in general construction at the ripe age of 15, Randy continued to fine tune his craft and worked his way up to lead project management where he was responsible for complete oversight on commercial construction through the Midwest and Southeast regions for a popular general contracting firm.

As busy as that left him, Randy still found time to operate a side business where he was able to work on residential projects that more aligned with his passions. Eventually growing tired of the frigid Indiana winters and not being able to set his own hours, he decided to pack up and relocate to Hilton Head Island in 2000 to launch his own general contracting business full-time.

Focused on residential remodeling, Randy very quickly grew a reputation for being one of the best contractors in the area. Building all of his clientele through word-of-mouth, to this day we have brought in over 95% of our business through personal recommendations from existing clients. This is a point of pride for our company in that our quality of work, combined with our approach with client relationships and communication, has helped build a solid foundation within the Lowcountry community that we so love to service.

The idea of Carolina Custom Solutions came from the constant requests from our clients for custom-built solutions to their renovation projects. Whether it’s a vanity, screen door, outdoor kitchen, mirror frame or another idea, we consistently receive requests from our clients during remodeling to create something unique to accent their overall look and feel of their home. As we continued to receive more and more requests, we quickly realized that we had something here that we could build upon, and Carolina Custom Solutions was born. Since then, we have shifted our focus from general contracting to building custom furniture and providing quality factory-built cabinets, as well as cabinet installation services.

Randy has been married to his wife Chrissy, a Savannah native, for over a decade. They reside in Hilton Head Plantation and love calling Hilton Head Island their home.
